Rose Red

Did anyone watch Rose Red? It's a Stephen King movie about an estate "Rose Red" that has a haunting past. From the previews I figured it'd be The House on Haunted Hill meets The Shining which in that aspect, I wasn't disappointed. When watching King movies, I guess you have to prepare yourself for some over dramatization and some sketchy editing, but they really dragged it out this time to make a 3-2 hour session series out of it. Plus with all the commercials, well it's enough to drive you nuts! Anyway, if you know me, you know that I scare easily... embarassingly easy and I've got to say, this movie hasn't affected me too much yet. And now I'm at that 'didn't like it - want to not care about #3' but this far into it you have to watch the 3rd one. I'm babbling. At any rate, I will have to tape it because Jill and I are going to a boxing match on Thursday which should be as fun as it will be interesting!

Anybody a dream interpreter? I remember my dreams most nights (at least some of them). Lately, I've been having a lot of short dreams every night and for some reason, most frequently, one of them has my teeth breaking and me having to call my dentist for an emergency appointment. Dreaming your teeth are breaking can't be a good sign. Geez, even when I have "bad" dreams it usually doesn't have me furrowing my brow as much as this one does. Any thoughts?

Rob and Heather's wedding reception

Rob and Heather's wedding reception this weekend was much fun. It was held in Discovery Bay at the Minnesota Zoo. The dolphins were the backdrop of the head table and there was a large open aquarium filled with "nice" sharks that you could pet. Seriously. All of the kids had a blast, but it was the adults, in the end, who were petting the sharks. :) Kelly has a sore throat today. My theory is that if we all wish the bug gone, he'll feel better by tonight. Let's try it. We had crab legs last night. Kelly is making roast tonight. He started the slow cooker this morning. Sorry ladies, he's taken.

What's a Cittilink?

To answer the question about the "link" and the "comment" areas on each post... the link is a permanent link to that particular post. If you want to bookmark a post for any reason, click link and bookmark it! If you bookmark it, it will be there... The comment option is to empower you to have a voice on this site - say anything! It was a big task getting those comments to work right so a perfect payoff would be to have them get used... plus I'd love your input!!!

hover hover hover. I've changed all the links on the website to hovers instead of underlines. I hope this doesn't make it difficult to distinguish between content and links or my site seem like it's trying too hard. It's not. I just like messing with things. Someone used to tell me to leave well enough alone. I didn't listen.

Springing Mindspring

Only about 30 more days until I can transfer my domain!! I can't wait! I'm such a geek. I ordered my franklin covey planner refill pages last week. They have this new custom option and so at the bottom of each page, there it will be in type... "www.cittigirl.com". yikes. I've started writing my lifeline in reverse chronology. It needs work, but it's a start! If you think of something I should add, don't hesitate... leave a comment, or e-mail me!

New movies on movie page!

New movies on movie page! You really do have to check out Kelly singing Piano Man... (he's going to kill me). For some reason that mpg file will not play properly on Real Player... I have to open it using Windows Media Player to get it to work on my PC. I am not an MPG guru. I do not know how to fix this. [kicks computer]

Bowling Freak

Tuesday night we went to Doyle's to pre-bowl (we'll be at Heather & Rob's wedding reception on Saturday night). I bowled an 82. Why is it that whenever the pins decide to hold a sit-down, it's always on my lane?? Kelly bowled right around his average which is excellent. Yesterday, I went bowling with Heather... I bowled 162 and 148 (we'll just ignore the 102). The hook ball idea is working quite well. While we're on this bowling thing, it's got to be in writing that I am officially a bowling freak. I spent 45 minutes reading online tutorials on how to throw a better, more consistent ball. While I was reviewing the chapter on the approach, I did however, refrain from what I call, air bowling. Jill wants to go to rumble-boxing. I'm almost done making the tulip basket.

Lug Nothing

Heather's back from Arizona!! Her luggage is being held for randsom. Continental is the best airline to fly if you like hassling with lost luggage. We're checking into a bowling tournament at Big Bear Casino in March. Be afraid, be very afraid...

Freakish Faulk

Breaking news: After Sunday's performance, the Rams may name a new MVP. In the past, the Rams have named their Quarterback, Kurt Warner, the MVP due to his great passing ability. Warner was overshadowed on Sunday, however, and so it seems the Rams may indeed, name Brett Favre their MVP. Because of Favre's ability to find Rams defensemen open in heavy cover, they were able to run up the score without having to tire or risk Warner and Faulk. First, Favre lays down for Strahan so he can break the NFL sack record and now this! Where would we be without the green and gold??

A Different Sort of Flea Market

What a weekend! Saturday morning we went to the River Centre in St. Paul. There were hundreds of items at wholesale prices. Lots of refurbished stuff but there were a few diamonds in the rough. We came home with some nice shammies (you'll have to come over so we can show you a demo!). You really gotta love those vendor guys. They've got to be just beat by the end of the day! "For the first 4 customers... I'll not only include this, but 4 more! That's 2 for the price of 1! But that's not all..." So... their marketing worked on us, but for $20 we can shammy the whole house, every day, for 5 years! hahaha Saturday night was the Monster Truck Rally. It was fun! It featured Wolverine - a Minnesota native with a mullet to kill. We left the dome at 10:50pm, got on Washington Ave. at 10:55 and it took over an hour to get to 35W which is what, 4 blocks east??? Sunday we went up to Milaca to move my Grandpa's boat from my cousin's house and into his garage in Elk River. Thank you Chad for letting us use your truck! Kelly did laundry and I made spaghetti and we cleaned up the apartment before watching most of The Gladiator. And here we are and it's Monday again. [sigh].

Kelly's birthday celebration

Last night we had a nice dinner at the Timberlodge Steakhouse. We brought more food home than we'd ordered!!! Just before dinner Kelly opened his presents. He got a funny (& may we add creative) personalized card from his parents along with a gift of money. He has dozens of ideas on how he will use it already! He got 2 pair of pajama pants, tickets to the Monster truck rally on Saturday and a fishing net from me. When we got home from dinner I surprised him with 2 more presents. A new fishing pole and reel! We're all set for fishing opener now!!

Vikings Loop

Apparently the world's biggest Vikings fan is a bit out of the loop. Seems we've hired O'leary AND Tice's brother. My my. Jay Leno referred to O'leary as Oh Really... (raising eyebrows). Yikes. I'm at my cousin Heather's house. I'm at lunch. I should be at work. I'm running late. It's almost to that point now where I can't go back. I've checked my e-mails and my voicemails as well as talked to Sprint. Does that count? OK, ok, I'm on my way. Toodle-oo.

Brent & Shelly

I just realized I started this news page after Brent and Shelly's engagement and never wrote about it! On Shelly's birthday, November 17th, Brent had a diver at the Mall of America aquarium swim down with a sign that said, "Shelly, Will you marry me? (Love, Brent, not the diver)" They've set their date for September 2002! Shelly has asked me to be a bridesmaid in their wedding. I'm so honored to be a part of the beginning of their life together. It means so much. My earliest memories include her - we were inseparable when we were small. We're a little taller now, but our friendship will last a lifetime.

Kelly and my conversation about him being a quarter century old on Thursday

So Tice Hires His Brother...

Why does this make me nervous? I know nothing about this guy, but I'm starting to feel like maybe O'Leary wasn't an entirely bad idea after all... I mean, at least we know who he is!!
A friend of mine from the Allpros fantasy football league and I had a short e-mail conversation about this website... he commented on this news page and I've been thinking alot about the whole wearing-my-life-on-my-sleeve deal. At first I was excited to be "found" on the search engines feeling it meant that I wasn't actually lost in the first place but now I'm thinking geez maybe I should be careful what I say here. And then it occurs to me that nobody probably reads into this as much as I do anyway so it's really not even an issue. And finally I realize, good God, what could be the worst thing that could happen!????? Well, I suppose QWest could sue me for incinuating that we needed a prayer to get through this service cutover thing. Or someone could probably sue me for mentioning prayer on the internet - I wouldn't want to offend anyone. lol - this has gone too far. I'll just make this disclaimer: anything found on this page is the opinion of the author unless it offends or irritates in which case you must have misunderstood. Please hang up and try your call again.

Leary of O'Leary

Rumors have it that Tice might offer a defensive line coaching job to his old college coach O'Leary. This is the same O'Leary that was hired by Notre Dame a month or so ago and resigned 5 days later after they discovered he'd lied on his resume. He lied about having a degree - even about playing football which he never did!!! Unreal. If you want to check out the standings of my fantasy football post-season click here. The QWest cutover has gone pretty well - we're almost done. Just ironing out some glitches at this point. I might even be outta here by 1pm!!! Thank you for those of you who prayed for us :)

Mike Tice Likes Rice

Vikings Name Mike Tice Head Coach
He's got an interesting resume. I didn't realize all he had done for the Vikings in the past 5 years. If it's true that he transformed the likes of Matt Birk, Jeff Christy, Randall McDaniel, Todd Steussie, and Korey Stringer into the great players they are, he definitely has the motivational power that this team needs. I just hope he will also bring some heart and soul to this team.

Centrex Blues

Tomorrow night is the big QWest cutover at work. Please, if you pray at night, say one for us :)

Added mini-golf game to fun page!

News Worthy

Went to Joe Senser's last night with Jill to watch the game. I think perhaps Spergon Wynn should take up badmitton. Moss threw the longest pass of the game. That's sad. An ugly end to an ugly season! FOX news was at the bar taping interviews regarding Green's dismissal - I might have been on the news last night, but I'm still not sure. I've been on the tube an awful lot this year! When do I start collecting royalties??? ;)

Bye Bye Green

Oh and Dennis Green is fired on Friday - Mike Tice is the fill-in Head Coach for Baltimore tonight! Should be interesting. Green had an impressive record as the head coach of the Vikes, but he lost his rapport with the team - he not only lost control of them, but he lost the ability to motivate them. Rumors are flying that the new coach will be Dungy or Spurrier but I say not - if Dungy's let go by Tampa, he'll likely not get a head coaching job next year - maybe a defensive line coach, but not a head coaching position. Spurrier would want too much control - he wouldn't get it in MN - plus he's a warm weather guy I hear. Happy footballing!

Well it's been over 1 month since I quit smoking! I'd made a self-deal where-in I decided that after 30-days of being smoke-free, I would have my car detailed inside and out. What I have found though is that most places that do this kind of work, won't until March because of the freeze factor. So I broke down and washed and armor-alled the car myself. Actually, I first used this Nu-vinyl crap that was in the T-bird (from the looks of the bottle, it's as old as the T-bird). Word to the wise, do not use this stuff, it stinks! The Armor All didn't even make it smell very much better. You know it's sad when you need an air freshener because you cleaned the inside of your car. Oh the irony of it all.

New Year's pictures on photos page!

Shellfish Rock Lobsters

It's the new year and everyone has been accounted for <wipes forehead in relief>. We had a great time at Heather & Robs. Ate lobsters , 'savored' 3 bottles of wine and just a small amount of captain, played Taboo, laughed often and had champagne at midnight. I hope to have the pictures ready today or tomorrow. Last night, I put together the baker's rack my Dad gave us. The drawer front piece is damaged so I'm currently on-hold with the manufacturer to order a replacement piece. (I didn't realize the piece was broken until it was half complete). ...Should be here in 1 week! Can't wait! Back to work. For the record, I got here at 7:45am this morning. (Starting the year off right!)
